Welcome to FairyTale Italian Greyhounds
We are a small hobby kennel located at the foothills of the cascades, in Naches Washington. Our goals are simple: produce a healthy, sound and elegant little companion capable of really haulin' in the field with an excellent personality and temperment. Breed honestly, and be completely honest with the buyer. Preservation of the Italian Greyhound is a large part of our goals.
We feel that if an individual with so-so conformation but a wonderful temperment and great health is more desireable than a dog with wondeful conformation and a so-so temperment. All IG's are different, like any other breed-IG's have more of a tendancy to be a certain way "because they want to"! They are extremely smart, but selective as to what you ask.
IG's are most frequently given back to the breeder or given to a rescue because the buyer failed to understand how different this little dog really is, or the breeder failed to tell them. Here at FairyTale Ig hounds we MAKE SURE everyone understands the uniquness of the italian greyhound.
In a nutshell, IGs are a sighthound in a little body. They do not have "little dog syndrome" are not yappy, can be hard to house train as with other toy breeds. Ig's are overall a healthy breed, can be hard to socialize and excell at agility, but need lots of patience in obedience.
So what is so great about italian greyhounds? Igs are one of the sweetest clowns, most beautiful and graceful little dogs on the planet! A true elegant small dog void of the normal yappy small dog personality. They are a true find for someone with limited space yet a need for a dog without small dog syndrome. They are great fun to play with and are extremely smart! I've handled english cockers, boston terriers, labradors, chihuahuas, golden retrievers, this list goes on and on... and nothing compares to italian greyhounds.
